Presentations
Create and view slide decks directly in Synap
Presentations
Canvas includes a built-in presentation viewer where you can create, view, and navigate slide decks without leaving Synap.
What Are Presentations?
Presentations in Synap are slide decks stored in your Canvas area. There are two types:
- HTML Presentations — Interactive slides that render directly inside Synap. You can navigate them with keyboard arrows, buttons, or fullscreen mode.
- PowerPoint Presentations — Traditional .pptx files stored in your Canvas. When you open them, they launch in your computer's default application (PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.).
Creating a Presentation
From the Canvas
- Open Canvas from the sidebar
- Click the Presentations tab
- Click New Presentation
- Enter a name and choose the type (HTML or PowerPoint)
- Click Create presentation
For HTML presentations, Synap creates a starter deck with two placeholder slides that you can view immediately.
Using Claude
The most powerful way to create presentations is to ask Claude. You can say things like:
- "Create a product overview presentation with 8 slides"
- "Build a quarterly report deck with revenue charts"
- "Make a workshop presentation with exercises and timers"
Claude generates a complete HTML presentation with professional styling, ready to view in the Canvas viewer.
You can also ask Claude to create PowerPoint files if you need to share editable slides with others.
Viewing Presentations
When you click on an HTML presentation, the viewer opens with:
- Slide navigation — Use the Previous/Next buttons or press the left/right arrow keys
- Slide counter — Shows which slide you're on (e.g., "Slide 3 of 12")
- Fullscreen mode — Click the fullscreen icon to expand the presentation. Press Escape to exit.
- Back button — Returns to the Canvas home
HTML vs PowerPoint
| Feature | HTML | PowerPoint |
|---|---|---|

| Navigate slides | Yes | N/A |
| Fullscreen mode | Yes | N/A |

Tips
- Ask Claude to use a specific style: "dark theme", "corporate blue", "colorful gradients"
- Request specific slide counts: "Make it 6 slides, concise"
- Include data: "Add a bar chart showing monthly revenue growth"
- Iterate: "Change slide 3 to focus on the technical architecture"
